Experience Matters

Serving as Washington County Commissioner I am proud of the progress we have made.  Together with many partners and elected officials, I have accomplished the following and more on behalf of our citizens:

Water

Secured the land for Warner Valley Reservoir.  Started construction of the Chief Toquer Reservoir.  Designed and partially funded the regional water re-use system.  Successfully implemented county water conservation programs.

Hertiage

Worked to preserve the history of Utah's Dixie and will continue the pressure to never be forgotten.

Taxes

Voted numerous times to cut taxes.  Did not increase the property tax mil levy for 16 years in a row.  Continued to look for ways to cut taxes.

Housing

Made landma changes in zoning density and land use to help low and moderate-income families attain housing.  We can't afford to wait on others; we can do this locally.

Public Safety

Supported the Sheriff's Office's requirements for staff and equipment to keep our citizens safe.  Created the Crisis Stabilization Center and expanded the Children's Justice Center to better serve the community and our children.

Transportation

Fought to construct the Northern Corridor to open more efficient east/west travel.  Paved 7 miles of rural roads in the county in 2025, with 5 more miles in 2026.

Public Recreation

Strengthened the quality of life by using taxes paid by tourists to fund trails, parks, the Dixie Sun Bowl, mountain biking venues, and much more.  Worked to preserve Zone 6 in Bloomington for hiking, biking, rock climbing, and more.

Partnerships

Worked with local, state, and federal officials to make sure the issues of Washington County residents are heard.

Arts

Paid almost a million dollars from the RAP tax to fund dozens of local visual and performing arts organizations.

Budgets

Balanced the county budget every year by prioritizing efficiency and cutting waste while maintaining services.  Other counties raise taxes to balance their budgets, we tighten our belts.

Gil Will

Protect election integrity.

Continue to carefully spend taxpayer dollars.

Support water conservation programs.

Devote time and resources to law enforcement and first responders.

Continue ongoing support for local businesses.

Collaborate with cities and towns within Washington County.
